Set within a territory classified by UNESCO as a Creative City, this project affirms a relationship between space . memory . and identity.
A low-density residential project with high differentiation.
Set alongside the Cávado river, where the words of António Fogaça still whisper, CARVALHAL Residences aims to contribute to the quality of life of those who choose it.
An asset that is an address of permanent value
The development comprises just six single-storey homes, organised around an interior garden, where the architecture balances privacy and community: the "wall" ceases to be a boundary and asserts itself as a presence; the courtyard ceases to be a space and becomes an experience; the glass eliminates separation and fuses interior and exterior into a natural continuum.
The artistic collaboration with António Ramalho transforms the project into a territory where art and architecture intersect naturally, elevating the living experience and consolidating the project's long-term value.
"The finest balance between functionality, sustainability and quality."
“Far enough to embrace nature,
close enough to ensure convenience.”

A dialogue with
the landscape.
Committed to a critical reading of place, the project aspires for its creative purpose to assert itself as a step in the ongoing making of collective memory. It draws inspiration from the Minho boundary wall, proposing a contemporary, timeless design that reinterprets this element within the continuum of landscape transformation.
Beyond this wall, a courtyard that holds interiority, enveloped by the tectonic simplification conceived by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: a canopy that protects and covers, walls that define, and glass to blur the boundary between interior and exterior.
António Ramalho —
Barcelos Figurado
in contemporary space.
António Ramalho's work offers a critical and contemporary reinterpretation of the Barcelos Figurado. His visual language, marked by intense expressiveness and constant formal experimentation, moves the Figurado from the strictly traditional domain into a broader field where the grotesque, the fantastic and the symbolic operate as devices for reflection on the human condition and collective memory.
His collaboration on CARVALHAL Residences reinforces the role of art in contemporary living, elevating architecture into a territory of meaning and experience. It introduces a narrative dimension that transcends function, fostering a more engaged and conscious relationship between resident and space.
In this way, the legacy of the Barcelos Figurado is not merely preserved, but actively reinterpreted, shaping a distinctive living environment defined by its cultural depth and artistic identity.
